Disposal humming but not spinning? Leaking under the sink? Completely dead? We diagnose, repair, and install all major brands of garbage disposals — InSinkErator, Waste King, Moen, KitchenAid, GE — for Absecon homeowners. Most repairs and replacements done in under an hour, same day.
A jammed or broken garbage disposal isn't urgent like a burst pipe — but a leaking one absolutely is. Leaking disposals drip dirty wastewater under your sink and rot the cabinet base from underneath, leading to expensive cabinet replacement. We can usually swap a failed disposal for a new one in 45-60 minutes, and we don't upsell you a $400 unit when a $180 one will work just as well for your kitchen.
Standard models: 8-12 years. Premium brands like the InSinkErator Evolution series: 12-15 years. If yours is over 10 years and leaking, replace rather than repair.
Total cost typically runs $250-$450 — that includes the disposal unit and our install labor. Good mid-range disposals are $150-$280; premium quiet models are $300-$500. We'll recommend honestly based on your usage.
Almost always a jam. Turn off the power switch first. Look for a hex key (Allen wrench) under the disposal — insert it into the slot on the bottom center and rotate back and forth to free the jam. Then press the red reset button on the bottom and try again. If it still hums, the motor capacitor may have failed.
Coffee grounds (they accumulate and clog drains), eggshells (membrane wraps around blades), grease/oil (solidifies in pipes), pasta/rice (expands and clogs), fibrous vegetables like celery or corn husks, and bones. Cold water and small food bits only.
